In just the latest in a series of stunning developments surrounding the Maryland Terrapins basketball program, center Gus Gilchrist has been released for his letter of intent and will transfer.
Gilchrist was looking to avoid losing more eligibility and transferring to a school outside of the ACC will allow him to do so.
Following the transfer of Shane Walker and graduation of James Gist, the Terps were looking for Gilchrist to be their star center and become a major scorer.
Many who watched Maryland practice last year felt that Gilchrist was the best player on the court.
The latest defection really puts the program in a poor light following the botched committments of Bobby Maze and Tyree Evans. |
