The San Francisco Giants have selected catcher Gerald "Buster" Posey with the No. 5 overall pick in the MLB Draft.
Posey is most famous for playing every single position on the diamond in one college game earlier this year.
He was considered a possible overall No. 1 pick, but there were rumors that he and his agent, the notoriously difficult Scott Boras, were asking for a signing bonus in the area of $12 million.
That probably scared a lot of teams off, and it certainly puts the Giants in a tough position to sign this guy.
In addition, he is a little raw at the plate, making it seem like he may not be nearly as good as the catcher taken No. 5 overall last year, Matt Wieters. |
