The Los Angeles Angels are currently 48-33 and in first place in the American League West.

The Angels appear to be virtually unchallenged at this point, although the Oakland Athletics and even the Texas Rangers do remain within striking distance.

The Angels have benefitted from fantastic starting pitching. John Lackey is fully healthy after elbow problems to start the year and threw a complete game shutout in his most latest performance.

The offense hasn’t been as strong as hoped and outfielder Vladamir Guerrero isn’t producing like he used to, so a trade for a big bat might be in the future plans.
