The Boston Red Sox are currently 50-33 and holding a slight lead over the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the American League East.

The Red Sox have been able to continue to hold strong despite the absence of designated hitter David Ortiz and dealing with the suspensions of several players because of their brawl with the Rays several weeks ago.

Boston has seen J.D. Drew step up his game over the past month, which comes as a surprise given his penchant for shying away from big moments.

However, Drew may have turned the corner with his big home run in the World Series last year. He has been superb so far and become one of the team’s top offensive players.
