The New York Yankees took a gamble on pitcher Sidney Ponson, and his first start showed promise.
Ponson pitched six innings of scoreless ball to pick up the victory in a spot start.
The team signed Ponson and placed him in the minor leagues with the hope that he would work his way up to the majors.
There is little doubt that the Yankees need all of the starting pitching help they can get, but Ponsons terrible attitude made many question how he could possibly fit into a clubhouse full of veteran World Series winners.
Ponson was cut by Minnesota earlier in the year and most recently by Texas for his poor behavior. |
