Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz is showing improvement and has done some light swinging with a bat, but still is at least weeks away.
Ortiz said he was able to swing a bat without pain for the first time since the wrist injury, but he is still nowhere close to being able to rejoin the club.
When Ortiz is cleared to begin full participation in baseball activities, it is expected that he will go on a rehab assignment before rejoining the Red Sox.
While out, the team has received a huge boost in offensive production from outfielder J.D. Drew, which has really helped to offset the loss of Ortiz. |
