With the San Diego Padres floundering in the standings, it was only a matter of time before the team called up third base prospect Chase Headley.

The third baseman is expected to see regular time in the lineup, which means someone is going to get squeezed out of some serious playing time.

The team expects to put him in left field and replace Kevin Kouzmanoff at third base whenever he needs a day off.

The Padres will need to be patient with Headley, who has been a notorious slow starter at every level in his baseball career.
