Cincinnati Reds outfielder Ryan Freel is not optimistic about a quick return from his torn hamstring.

Freel said he was told by the medical staff that he could return to the lineup within two to three weeks, but he said it is hard to see how that would be possible.

The outfielder is likely feeling the urgency to get back out on the field with top prospect Jay Bruce now patrolling the outfield and taking away a lot of playing time.

Even if he does return, Freel’s lack of speed will not be what he is used to having.
