The St. Louis Cardinals have activated closer Jason Isringhausen from the disabled list.

Isringhausen has had major issues out of the closer’s role this year and had actually been relieved of his duties before being placed on the disabled list.

At the time he was put on the DL, Isringhausen was tied for the Major League lead in blown saves with Milwaukee Brewers closer Eric Gagne, who is still injured.

Isringhausen is unlikely to regain his closer’s role, as Ryan Franklin has been fairly effective in save situations.
