Chicago Bears running back Adrian Peterson is sidelined after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.

It’s a tough time for Peterson to suffer such an injury as he is currently in the mix to compete for the starting running back job after the release of Cedric Benson.

Peterson will miss the rest of the team’s organized activities but should be able to work out again in two weeks.

Rookie Matt Forte looks like he may be the front runner for the starting job.
