The New England Patriots have released veteran punter Scott Player.

Player was signed by the Patriots on April 23. He is a 10-year veteran with the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns.

The punter played in 143 career games, recording 727 punts with a net average of 35.8 yards.

He also made the Pro Bowl in 1998.

It’s pretty odd the team would sign him on April 23 and cut him less than two months later. There seems to be something more to this story.
