The San Diego Padres are currently 35-54 and in last place in the National League West.

The Padres are likely to be one of baseball’s biggest sellers heading into the trading deadline after having hopes of reaching the playoffs coming into 2008.

The Padres were eliminated in a one-game playoff last year to determine who would be awarded the National League’s wild card spot, and it has been a long, hard fall since then.

San Diego simply has very little starting pitching around Jake Peavy and literally no offense around first baseman Adrian Gonzalez.

It’s time for the Padres to start from scratch and build their farm system.
