The New York Mets are currently 44-44 and in third place in the National League East.

Despite all of the criticism surrounding the Mets this year, they still remain only 3.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the division.

The Mets have struggled in nearly all facets of the game, particularly offensively. First baseman Carlos Delgado has been terrible, and outfielder Carlos Beltran appears to be finally breaking out of his funk.

Closer Billy Wagner has blown a few games lately, which has also been a cause for concern. The team can’t afford to have their closer blowing games considering their struggles to put runs on the board.
