The Boston Red Sox did the unthinkable, trading disgruntled outfielder Manny Ramirez to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-way deal that went down just before the July 31st trading deadline.
The Pittsburgh Pirates sent outfielder Jason Bay to the Red Sox, who will take the place of Ramirez.
In turn, the Pirates receive four prospects to help them continue their rebuilding efforts.
The Red Sox also picked up the remaining $7 million on Ramirez contract for this season.
The Red Sox, who have long grown tired of Ramirez ways but put up with it because of his production on the field, finally decided it was time to let him go. |
