Pittsburgh Pirates closer Matt Capps is making progress with his shoulder injury and could begin throwing off a mound as soon as two weeks from now.
General manager Neal Huntington said things are going better than anticipated but he is still a good time away from getting back to baseball activities.
With the Pirates well out of playoff contention and still in what seems to be a never-ending rebuilding mode, the team certainly is going to take every precaution with Capps and will not rush him back before he is 100 percent healthy.
Setup man Demaso Marte has taken over as the closer in Capps absence and has done a pretty good of holding down the fort. |
