The Houston Astros have activated pitcher Roy Oswalt from the 15-day disabled list.
Oswalt had an extended stay after he complained of back and hip injuries which have plagued him much of the season.
The pitcher, who has been out since July 11, threw between 40 and 50 pitches in a recent side session to convince manager Cecil Cooper that he was ready to return to action.
Cooper said he is confident that the pain is gone, but that they will have to be really cautious if Oswalt says he feels anything abnormal.
Oswalt is just 7-8 with a 4.56 ERA this year, very disappointing numbers for one of the most consistent National League pitchers over the past five years. |
