After an outstanding first half of the season, Chicago Cubs closer Kerry Wood has chosen to sit out of this years All-Star game.
Wood has been dealing with a blister on his right hand for about a week and wants to get it calmed down.
Manager Lou Pinella said he didnt feel a disabled list stay would be necessary, as the All-Star break should serve as enough time to get him healed up for the second half of the season.
Despite Wood missing the game, the Cubs still have the same number of All-Stars participating. Setup man Carlos Marmol, who some feel might even be better than Wood, was named to the team in his place. |
