In a testament to his staying power in the major leagues, Kansas City Royals second baseman Mark Grudzielanek has record his 2,000 career hit. He becomes the 18th active player and 251st in the major leagues to reach the milestone, which puts him in with a pretty good group of guys. He is also just the 6th player to reach the 2,000 hit plateau in a Royals uniform. The veteran said it was an awesome accomplishment because there aren’t too many players out there with that many hits in their career. The infielder is having an outstanding year, as he sits behind just Ian Kinsler and Brian Roberts when it comes to offensive production from second basemen.
