Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau was named as the eighth and final competitor in the Home Run Derby at the All-Star game.

With many of the top players in the game declining invitations to compete in the contest, Morneau was more than happy to accept.

He will join American Leaguers Josh Hamilton, Evan Longoria and Grady Sizemore.

Morneau is not known as one of the game’s top sluggers even though he is usually among the league leaders in home runs.

Four other players are representing the National League.
