The Seattle Mariners have cut first baseman Richie Sexson.
The first baseman has severely slumped the past two seasons, and the Mariners are currently looknig at their roster and trying to cut loose some of the dead weight.
The Mariners had a hard time cutting Sexson and his $14 million salary, but finally decided it was worth it to cut their losses.
The slugger put up decent enough power numbers while with the Mariners, but his average and on base percentage was abysmal and he struck out a lot.
Former manager John McLaren said last month that Sexson was trying too hard and needed a change of scenerey. |
