Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy said quarterback Peyton Manning will start in the season opener against the Chicago Bears.
With Manning failing to play in a preseason game and seeing little practice time in training camp as he comes back from knee surgery, there was some concern he might not be back in time for Week 1.
Dungy said Manning has made significant progress in his recovery from an infected bursa sac and there would have to be a dramatic setback for the quarterback to miss the first game of the season.
Thats good news for the Colts, who saw in the preseason how rough things on offense would be if backup Jim Sorgi had to start.
There have been questions about hurt Mannings knee really was, as some suggested he had a second knee surgery when he reported later than anticipated to training camp. |
