The Jacksonville Jaguars and first-round pick defensive end Derrick Harvey have finally agreed to a contract, ending a 33-day holdout.
The Jaguars moved up in the first round and gave up a lot to do so, wanting desperately to select Harvey.
A top-pass rusher in college, Harvey was the perfect selection for a team that struggled to get after the quarterback last year and wanted to improve in that area.
The deal is worth $23.8 million over the next five years. He is guaranteed $17 million and could make over $33 million with escalators built into his contract.
It is doubtful that Harvey will play in the teams final preseason game against the Washington Redskins. |
