San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili will need to undergo surgery to repair a ligament injury in his left heel.
Ginobili was injured twice during the Olympics while playing for Argentina, including once against the United States.
Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has been noted for taking a strong stance against his players participating in international games because of the injury risk involved.
He actually injured his foot initially during the NBA playoffs, and the head coach asked him not to play in the Olympics, advice which he ultimately ignored.
This certainly isn’t a good news with just a month or so before NBA camp begins and the Spurs trying to bounce back from a disappointing series loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. |
