The Minnesota Twins have acquired reliever Eddie Guardado in a trade with the Texas Rangers.
The Twins sent a minor league pitcher back to Texas in exchange for the left-handed specialist.
The move brings Guardados career back full circle to the place where he made a name for himself as a setup man and then as a closer.
Guardado has bounced around the major leagues since leaving Minnesota for a big contract, struggling to regain his form after Tommy John surgery.
He pitched well this year with the Rangers and even inherited the closers role after C.J. Wilson was diagnosed with a season-ending injury.
Guardado is expected to be the primary setup man for closer Joe Nathan. |
