After delaying his decision as long as possible, Maryland Terrapins head coach Ralph Friedgen has named Jordan Steffy his starting quarterback.
Steffy beat out both Chris Turner and Josh Portis for the starting job based on his far superior play in practice.
Friedgen said it was a very hard choice but that he risked losing the team if he did not pick the player who performs best day in and day out.
The move was not met without controversy, as many fans believe Turner performs best in games and gives the Terps the best chance to win.
Steffy struggled mightily last season before losing his starting job after suffering a concussion against Rutgers. Turner stepped in and played pretty well, leading the Terps to two wins over top 10 teams. |
