Its only three games of a relatively meaningless preseason schedule, but Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard has done little to write home about.
Garrard received a major contract in the offseason after he won the starting quarterback job over incumbent Byron Leftwich before last season and then led the team to the second round of the playoffs.
Garrards $60 million deal was supposed to reward him for taking the Jaguars deeper into the playoffs than they had been in years and to show faith in the career backup.
Now the worry is that maybe the money has gone to Garrards head and made him satisfied or less motivated coming into a season in which the Jaguars hope to take that next step in becoming a Super Bowl contender.
Still, its too early to jump to such conclusions yet, especially since he has had less than his full complement of receivers at his disposal because of injuries. Jerry Porter, the big offseason acquisition, is sidelined for another few weeks with a hamstring injury while Reggie Williams just returned to the lineup. |
