Outlook: This is going to be a high-scoring affair. Both teams have talented defenses that can make stops but also go through periods of inconsistent play. Meanwhile, both offenses are very talented and can put up points in a hurry. The difference in the game is the balance of the offenses.
The USC Trojans can hurt you in just about any way offensively. They are extremely balanced. Quarterback Matt Leinart can hurt you spreading the ball around to a number of talented receivers or he can hand off to RB Reggie Bush or RB LenDale White, both of whom are first-round draft pick material.
The Texas Longhorns has QB Vince Young, a super athletic player who can beat you with his arm but is much more dangerous with his feet. Texas doesn’t have nearly the balance nor the weapons on offense as USC, and the Trojans will likely try to completely shut down Young’s running ability and force him to beat them with his arm.
Prediction: USC is much too balanced on offense and will turn a close game into a comfortable win in the second half. USC 44 Texas 31
