Outlook: This is a match up between the two at large bids into the BCS. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have an explosive offense behind offensive mastermind Charlie Weiss, the new head coach who was formerly the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots. Their defense has some talent but is vulnerable.
They face an Ohio State Buckeyes team that isn’t very creative on offense but has some serious talent in QB Troy Smith, WR Ted Ginn Jr. and WR Santonio Holmes. Ohio State’s strength is its defense, which can be very stingy but also was inconsistent at times during the season. Add to that the fact Weiss has over a month to dissect the Buckeyes defense and find its weaknesses, it doesn’t seem like OSU has much of an advantage there.
Prediction: A very close game that will most likely come down to a last-second score. Im going with the offensive genius in this one. Notre Dame 27 Ohio State 24
