The Washington Redskins tried to give the game away before the Browns eventually gave it to them, 14-11.
It was a big win for the Redskins, who were already coming off of a disappointing defeat at home against St. Louis.
Once again, running back Clinton Portis led the way. He finished 175 yards rushing and a touchdown, although a late fumble almost cost his team the game.
Quarterback Jason Campbell had another quiet day, throwing for just 164 yards and a touchdown.
The defense ended up making key stops when it needed to, although the Browns wasted a number of golden opportunities. |

The Dallas Cowboys werent the only NFC East team busy improving themselves at the trade deadline.
In a much less talked about move, the Washington Redskins signed running back Shaun Alexander to a one-year contract.
With backup running back Ladell Betts hurt and starter Clinton Portis prone to injury, the Redskins needed a reliable veteran to give them some insurance.
Enter Alexander, a former MVP who has received little attention since being cut by the Seattle Seahawks in the offseason.
Alexander has been itching to get back out on the field and prove himself, and he looks like he might just get his chance. |

After two straight huge road wins over divisional opponents, the Washington Redskins were due for a letdown.
However, playing the hapless Rams at FedEx Field hardly seemed like a likely stumbling block.
Sunday proved exactly how wacky the NFL can be, as the Redskins were stunned by the Rams, 19-17.
The Redskins pretty much outplayed the Rams in all facets of the game, but three costly fumbles proved to be the difference.
The one fumble was the killer. After quarterback Jason Campbell had a ball batted down, lineman Pete Kendall caught it.
Instead of going down, Kendall ran with the ball and quickly fumbled. The Rams recovered the ball and ran it back for a touchdown, a costly mistake. |

Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander is set to work out for the Washington Redskins and may be offered a contract.
The Redskins are concerned that an injury to backup running back Ladell Betts will keep him out of the lineup for a few weeks.
Alexander has been looking for work ever since he was released by the Seattle Seahawks in the offseason.
He has had trouble generating any interest because there have been no major injuries to starting running backs and he is not a great receiving threat out of the backfield. |

The Washington Redskins are extremely unhappy with rookie punter Durant Brooks and are actively looking to replace him.
The team is planning on bringing in a number of free agent punters for a tryout on Tuesday.
As soon as the team can find someone they feel will do a decent job, they plan to cut ties with Brooks.
Brooks has struggled mightily in his rookie season, ranking at the bottom in terms of average per punt and net yardage.
He was booed lustily by the home crowd during Sundays loss, particularly after shanking a punt just 26 yards. |

Washington Redskins defensive end Jason Taylor returned to practice for the first time in 17 days after suffering an injury to his calf.
In his absence, all his team did was beat both the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles on the road.
Taylor did some light drills in his first day back, but it is unknown whether or not he will be able to play this weekend against the St. Louis Rams.
Im sure Taylor is itching to get back out on the field after the end to his consecutive games played streak.
He is also probably licking his chops at playing for a good team for a change and getting the chance to terrorize that downtrodden St. Louis offensive line. |

The Washington Redskins came off of a huge win over the rival Dallas Cowboys and were expected by many to lay an egg against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Instead, the Redskins dominated the Eagles in nearly every facet of the game en route to a huge, 23-17 road win over a divisional opponent.
Running back Clinton Portis and the Redskins offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage against a defense that has been stopping everyone who tries to run against them this year.
Portis finished the game with 145 yards rushing and a touchdown, including a huge fourth-down conversion late in the game that allowed the Redskins to milk the clock for the win.
With the next three games against very easy foes, ... |

Washington Redskins defensive end Jason Taylor will miss teams upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles. It will be the second consecutive game Taylor has missed after suffering a calf injury against the New Orleans Saints. What seemed like a minor bruise at the time eventually necessitated a small surgical procedure to reduce blood pressure ins his leg. Taylor has been able to get out on the field and run, which is more than head coach Jim Zorn expected he would do at this point. The team is hopeful they will have him back in another week. The Redskins will certainly miss Taylors presence out on the field as a pass-rusher who can chase down elusive quarterback Donovan McNabb. |

The Washington Redskins stunned everyone but themselves Sunday when they walked into Dallas and came away victorious against the Cowboys, 26-24.
The Redskins seemed to have the perfect gameplan devised against Dallas, which appeared either overconfident or disinterested for much of the day.
Quarterback Jason Campbell played arguably his best game as a pro, tossing three touchdown passes to wide receiver Antwan Randle El.
Defensively, the Redskins were all over the field and clearly frustrated quarterback Tony Romo and wide receiver Terrell Owens.
Romo did finish with 300 yards passing and a touchdown, but he also threw an interception and really didnt look comfortable in the pocket most of ... |

Washington Redskins defensive end Jason Taylor will not get the chance to experience the teams bitter rivarly with the Dallas Cowboys just yet.
Taylor was kicked in the calf during their win over the Arizona Cardinals, though the injury did not seem serious at first.
However, Taylor felt pain while sleeping after the game and had to be taken to the hospital for a 20 minute operation to relieve a pool of blood in his leg.
Head coach Jim Zorn said Taylor would definitely miss the teams next game and could be out even longer than that.
The operation will also mean the end of Taylors consecutive games played streak, which is one of the longest in the NFL. |
