ZZ Top is one of the few rock acts around containing its original lineup from when they formed in 1969. Over the years they have faced many successes and challenges, and came through it a stronger, more energized force.
ZZ Top formed in Texas when the band members, Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard, were involved with different musical outfits. They came together to perform blues rock.
The band performed their first show in 1970 and by 1974 they were drawing tens of thousands of fans on the touring circuit, including other up-and-coming acts like Santana, Bad Company and Joe Cocker.
The groups first hit was "La Grange" off of "Tres Ambres," and the hits kept coming. Over the years, the group put out hit tracks like "Tush," "Cheap Sunglasses," "Sharp Dressed Man," "Gimme All Your Lovin" and "Legs."
The group was at the pinnacle of fame in 1984 and remained commercially successful for years to come, releasing new albums regularly. They have since slowed their recording, but they are still constantly influencing the rock sounds of today.
