Walking with Dinosaurs News and Information
Posted 6/18/2009
After years of planning, the creators of the award-winning BBC TV series ““Walking with Dinosaurs” are taking the show on the road, spreading the educational fun across the globe.

The $12-million show will feature 15 life-sized dinosaurs – including a 45-foot tall, 75-foot-long Brachiosaurus and even a mother Tyrannosaurus Rex and her baby. Fans will be able to watch the lifelike puppets mimic the behavior of the prehistoric staples, from watching them walk to hearing them roar.

Based on the smash hit series, the live show takes fans back 180 million years, traveling through the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.

““Walking with Dinosaurs” is one of the biggest touring shows ever – it includes a crew of 65 people and requires 27 trucks to transport the equipment. Inside the venues, only two-thirds of seating is available because of the sheer size of the dinosaurs. Each dinosaur requires three people to operate it – one to steer, one to maneuver the head and limbs, and another to create the more intricate movements like facial expressions.

The tour premiered in Sydney on January 10th, and it has been traveling to many continents – it began this summer on the West Coast and is roaming America through the fall.

After 200 million years on the earth, the young and old alike will finally be able to understand what it was like ““Walking with Dinosaurs.”
