Trans-Siberian Orchestra 2011 Fall/Winter Tour
Posted 9/13/2011
The lasers, the special effects, the fireworks...they can only mean one thing. Trans-Siberian Orchestra is back! They return for their annual fall/winter tour, because it's just not the holiday season without them.
Multiple touring companies will be crisscrossing the country during November and December, leaving no town in a major market untouched by their progressive rock spin on classic holiday tunes. In some venues, fans will be given the opportunity to see a matinee or an evening show on the same day.
Tour stops this year include Mohegan Sun Arena in Conn., United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, Tx., Reno Events Center in Nevada, Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, FedEx Forum in Memphis, and many many more.
TSO was first conceived by New York native Paul O'Neill, who grew up listening to and inspired by both music and the drama and production of Broadway musicals. "I wanted to take the very best of all the forms of music I grew up on and merge them into a new style," O'Neill says. "Basically I was building on the work of everybody I worshipped: the rock opera parts from bands like the Who; the marriage of classical and rock from bands like Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Queen; the over-the-top light show from bands like Pink Floyd...I always wanted to do a full rock opera with a full progressive band and at least 18 lead singers."
The ultimate result: Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
