Tim McGraw News and Information Tim McGraw, son of famed baseball player Tug McGraw, had his first hit single, "Indian Outlaw," from his 1994 album, "Not a Moment Too Soon." Also from that album was "Don't Take the Girl," a heart wrenching ballad about love and loss. His next effort brought a more up-tempo hit, "I Like It, I Love It," as well as several ballads. He had many number one hits after that, including "Just to See You Smile," "Bring On the Rain," "The Cowboy in Me" and "Live Like You Were Dying."

While wife Faith Hill has done a lot of crossover work into the mainstream, McGraw's closest glimpse was an unlikely duet with rapper Nelly on the ballad "Over and Over" in 2004. While the single boosted his reputation outside of the country community - his greatest hits album debuted at the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart when it was released on March 28, 2006 - he didn't hurt his standing with country fans.

McGraw is known as a mainstay in the country music scene - he straddles the fence between the younger artists of the genre, such as Keith Urban and Dierks Bentley, but not quite of the stature of Garth Brooks or Alan Jackson, and he plays that role quite well.

The extremely successful Soul2Soul tours paired with McGraw and Hill. The 2008 installment was the highest-grossing country tour ever, bringing in $90 million dollars, beating out all country acts and even out-grossing Madonna's "Confessions on a Dance Floor."
