The Spinto Band are a rock band from Wilmington, Delaware.
They have released several albums including, Digital Summer in 1999, Roosevelt in 2000, Mersey & Reno, in 2001, Good Answer in 2003, and Nice and Nicely Done on Bar/None in 2005.
Their song "Direct to Helmet" was released as a single in the UK in March of 2006 and was also featured on the Rough Trade shop's Counter Culture 05 compilation album. The band went out on tour in 2006 with the Arctic Monkeys. The band also appeared on the 5th May episode of Later with Jools Holland.
Band member Nick Krill attended American University in Washington, DC. Krill started the band when he found CrackerJack boxes in his attic, with lyrics written by his relative, Roy Spinto. Hence, the name, the Spinto band. Most of the other members went to college on the East Coast, some of them attending Syracuse University. While at American University, in his sophomore year, Krill turned his bed into a mini-recording studio, and actually slept under the frame, in order to allow it to hold all of his equipment.
The band built a strong following with great shows in the DC area at Black Cat and the 9:30 Club. Their song "Oh Mandy" was featured in a Sears Commercial that aired during Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
