The Avett Brothers continue to tour throughout the U.S., bringing their unique mix of old-time country, honky tonk, ragtime, bluegrass and more to the masses.
The Avett Brothers are ringing in the New Year with a show at the Bi-lo Center in Greenville. They're also playing the the Sunset Cove Amphitheater in Boca Raton on Feb. 10 and the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville on Feb. 11.
Their most recent work is the 2010 album Live, Volume 3, which was recorded in the band's hometown of Charlotte, N.C., at the Bojangles Coliseum in August 2009.
Though brothers Seth and Scott Avett played together throughout their childhood, they didn't really work together on the music scene until they combined their respective bands and played together as Nemo. They ultimately released three albums under Nemo, but the band soon dissolved leaving the brothers on their own. In 2002, after continuing to play together for two years, they were joined by bassist Bob Crawford for their first full-length album, Country Wars.
After a handful of live recordings and cover songs, the brothers met up with a local label owner and signed them to Ramseur Records. Under the new label, the Avett Brothers discography grew to include A Carolina Jubilee (2003), Mignonette (2004), Live, Vol. 2 (2005), Four Theives Gone: The Robbinsville Sessions and The Gleam (2006).
The Avett Brothers national debut came with their fifth studio album, Emotionalism, in 2007. After the album's debut it made it onto the Billboard Top Heatseekers Albums chart and rose to No. 13 on the Independent Albums chart. Afterward they were featured on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and later went on to win the Americana Music Association Duo/Group of the Year and New/Emerging Artist of the Year awards.
Following their breakthrough success, they left Ramseur Records and signed with Ruck Rubin's American Recordings label. With the new label, the band has gone on to create I and Love and You (2009) and Live, Volume 3 (2010).
The Avett Brothers lineup includes Seth and Scott Avett, Bob Crawford, Joe Kwon and Jacob Edwards.
