Sugarland News and Information

Move over Big & Rich and Brooks & Dunn - there is a new country duo in town. Sugarland features a male and female dynamic, and has been burning up the charts for the past few years, and lately achieving a lot of attention in the mainstream market.

The group originated as a trio with Kristen Hall, Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush in Atlanta circa 2003. Bell left the band in 2006, leaving Nettles and Bush at the helm. They both had lots of experience - staples to the folk-rock scene in Atlanta for about a decade prior to forming, Nettles performed with Soul Miners Daughter and eventually formed the Jennifer Nettles Band and Bush was a part of the duo Billy Pilgrim.

Sugarland was signed to Mercury Nashville Records in 2003 after years of playing together. The debut single from the outfit, "Baby Girl," set a record for the longest stint on the Billboard Country Charts since the Nielsen SoundScan was developed in 1990.

As a trio, Sugarland released the album "Twice the Speed of Life" in 2004. The collection included a number of hit singles, such as "Something More," "Just Might (Make Me Believe" and "Down in Mississippi (Up to No Good)." The album has been certified 2X platinum by the RIAA.

In November of 2007, Nettles and Bush released "Enjoy the Ride." The album sold 211,000 copies during its first week, debuting at No.2 on the Billboard Country Chart. Singles from the album include "Settlin," "Everyday America" and "Stay."

Lately, Sugarland has become known for collaborations - Nettles was featured in Bon Jovis single "Who Says You Cant Go Home," and they performed with the band on Country Music Televisions show "Crossroads." They also performed with Beyonce Knowles on "Irreplaceable" at the American Music Awards.

The group is also a touring force - they have traveled the country with Brad Paisley in 2005 and Brooks and Dunn in 2006. In 2008, they co-headlined the "Change for Change" tour with Little Big Town and Jake Owen.
