After 14 tour-less years, Sublime is taking to the stage with a new front man for a series of summer concerts.
Sublime with front man Rome is kicking things off on June 5 in Irvine, Calif., for the KROQ Weenie Roast 2010 with the Silversun Pickups, Paramore, Cage the Elephant, Passion Pit and more. From there, they're heading to the Live 105 BFD in Mountain View, Calif., to perform alongside Flyleaf, Deftones and others.
In July, they've got 12 tour dates scheduled with Dirty Heads and Matisyahu. Their last U.S. concert is scheduled for Sept. 18 in Tempe, Ariz.
Sublime originally formed in Long Beach, Calif., in 1988 though their rise to fame came during the days of 90s ska with fellow bands Offspring and Green Day.
The band released two albums ("40oz. to Freedom" in 1992 and "Robbin' the Hood" in 1994) before finding success with their third, self-titled album in 1996. However, it was Sublime's last album because just two months before it was released, lead singer Brad Nowell died.
In 2009, Sublime surviving members Eric Wilson (guitars) and Bud Gaugh (drums) joined up with singer Rome Ramirez. After a lawsuit ensued for using the band's original name as the name Sublime was trademarked by Nowell they settled as Sublime with Rome.
Now, as Sublime with Rome, the band is working on getting out new music for the first time in over a decade, though the highly anticipated album isn't expected out until sometime in 2011.
