Steve Miller Band News and Information
Posted 6/18/2009
It may have been 16 years since the Steve Miller Band put out fresh material, but the guys are still going as strong as ever.

Between now and November, they're on the road for a sporadic tour that will take them throughout the U.S. with stops in almost 40 cities.

What started out as the Goldberg-Miller Blues band with Steve Miller, Chris Yoder (keyboard), Roy Ruby (bass), Craymore Stevens (rhythm guitar) and Lance Haas (drums) was the humble beginnings of the Steve Miller Band.

The five moved to Chicago and signed with Epic Records before heading off to San Francisco scene, signing with Capitol Records and shortening their name to the Steve Miller Blues Band in 1967.

They released their first album, Children Of The Future, in May 1968, though it didn't ever gain much popularity. The second album, Sailor, had better luck and peaked at the Billboard charts at No. 24 with the most popular songs being "Livin' In The USA," and "Lucky Man."

The band currently consists of Steve Miller (lead guitar/vocals), Norton Buffalo (harmonica, percussion and vocals), Kenny Lee Lewis (guitar and vocals), Billy Peterson (bass guitar and vocals), Joseph Wooten (keyboards and vocals), Gordy Knudtson (drums) and the newest member—Sonny Charles (vocals).

In total, the group has released 20 original albums.
