European rockers Snow Patrol have announced a fall tour behind last year's album, following a European Festival run this summer and several dates opening for U2.
The tour kicks off September 10th in Saint Paul, Minn., and will stick to the Northeast and Canada for the rest of the month, including two shows in Chicago, Ontario and Massachusetts with fellow rockers U2. In October, the band will travel southward, and will finish the tour up with three California stops, ending things October 20th in Los Angeles
The band, with members hailing from Northern Ireland and Scotland, struggled to find success in the late 1990's, but in 2003 found massive success with "Final Straw," which was certified Platinum four times in the UK. Hits from the album include Run," "Chocolate," "Spitting Games" and "How to Be Dead."
The rockers found equal success with "Eyes Open" in 2006, which sold more than 4.7 million copies worldwide. Hits from the collection include "Chasing Cars" - which found massive success in the U.S. - "You're All I Have" and "Hands Open." The album was the best-selling album of 2006 in the UK.
"A Hundred Million Suns" was released on October 24, 2008. They kicked of their "Taking Back the Cities" tour on October 26th, and more recently provided support for Coldplay during the June portion of their "Viva la Vida" tour. In July, they are supporting U2 on some European shows.
While the lineup of the band has changed over the years, it currently includes Garry Lightbody on lead vocals, guitar and piano, Nathan Connolly on guitar and backing vocals, Paul Wilson on bass guitar and backing vocals, Jonny Quinn on drums and percussion, and Tom Simpson on keyboards and samples.
