The Silversun Pickups have just launched the second leg of their tour in continued support of their second studio album, Swoon.
The tour is scheduled to run until Oct. 9 at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Highlights of the tour include stops at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver on July 26; the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Aug. 6; and Soma in San Diego on Aug. 7.
Supporting acts Against Me! and The Henry Clay People will be joining the band for various U.S. tour dates, and the Silversun Pickups also have a handful of tour dates scheduled in Australia supporting the Birds of Tokyo.
Swoon was released in April 2009 and contains the hit song "Panic Switch."
The Silversun Pickups, or SSPU, was founded in Los Angeles in 2002 by Brian Aubert (lead vocals, guitar), Nikki Monninger (bass, vocals), Christopher Guanlao (drums) and Joe Lester (keyboards).
Originally dubbed A Couple of Couples, the SSPU began as a group of friends who had played together previously and in mutual friends bands. After forming their own band and changing their name, the group released their debut album, Carnavas in 2006.
Two of the songs from Carnavas, "Lazy Eye" and "Well Thought Out Twinkles," made their way up the Billboard charts, but the SSPU gained most of their fame on a spring 2007 tour with OK Go and Snow Patrol.
Their second and most recent album, Swoon, was released in April 2009. During the first week of the album's release, it jumped to No. 7 on the Billboard charts and sold 43,000 copies. Since then the band has been flooded with fame, including a 2010 Grammy nomination for 'Best New Artist' and a prime spot at the Coachella Music Festival.
In early 2010, the Silversun Pickups co-headlined a U.S. tour with Muse, and are currently touring the U.S. with Against Me! and The Henry Clay People.
