Sheryl Crow is traveling this spring and summer behind her most recent effort, 2007s "Detours.”
Crow has become a leading female in a number of genres, trying her hand at rock, pop, blues, country and folk, all the while appealing to the mainstream. She has scored nine Grammy Awards and has released six successful studio albums and performed for a number of compilations.
Crow was born in Kennett, Missouri. She was very active in high school graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Music Composition, Performance and Education. Crow worked as a music teacher and performed on the weekends, and eventually began writing jingles. She toured with Michael Jackson on his BAD world tour, and eventually released her debut album "Tuesday Night Music Club” in 1994.
Her debut included a number of massive hits, such as "All I Wanna Do,” "Strong Enough,” "Leaving Las Vegas” and "Cant Cry Anymore.” She found immense success, and followed that up two years later with a self-titled collection, which included hits "If It Makes You Happy,” "Everyday is a Winding Road,” "A Change Would Do You Good” and "Home.”
"The Globe Sessions” was released two years later, which included "My Favorite Mistake,” and her next album "Cmon Cmon” in 2002 featured the massive hit "Soak Up the Sun.” She put out a greatest hits album the following year, which featured "The First Cut is the Deepest,” and "Wildflower” included "Good is Good” and "Always on Your Side,” which featured Sting.
In recent years, Crow has become known for her private life and political views beyond her music - her relationship with athlete Lance Armstrong was widely reported in the press, as was her successful battle with breast cancer. She also has stood against the Bush administration publically in concerts, and she had a public argument with Karl Rove concerning the Bush administrations global warming policies.
However, music is still at the forefront - most recently, Crow offered up "Detours,” which includes the singles "Shine over Babylon” and "Love is Free.”
