Nearly a year after the release of her sixth studio album "She Wolf," Shakira is preparing for her North American tour to launch on Sept. 17 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
Though new dates are constantly being added, Shakira has already announced a total of 19 concerts spanning from coast to coast. Before her tour, Shakira is scheduled to appear at the FIFA World Cup Kick Off Celebration and the Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom, both in June.
"She Wolf" is Shakira's third English-language title, following "Laundry Service" in 2001 and "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" in 2005.
Shakira, a native of Columbia, always had a passion for music and wrote her first song when she was just 11 years old. When she was 13, she began her professional career after moving to Bogota to be a model, but ended up as a singer. In 1990, Shakira signed her first record deal with Sony's Columbian division and released her first of two Columbian albums "Magia (Magic)" in 1991.
What has come to be known as her first 'official' album is "Pies Descalzos" (1996), which was still released under the Sony Music Columbia label. She followed her first album with "Donde Estan los Ladrones?" in 1998; "Laundry Service" in 2001; and "Fijacion Oral Vol. 1" and "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" in 2005.
Her latest album, "She Wolf," was released in 2009 by Epic Records. The songs differ from her past Latin and pop rock to a more electropop vibe. Now, she's taking to the stage in support of her "She Wolf" album this fall.
