Sarah Mclachlan News and Information
Posted 6/18/2009
Throughout the rest of the year and into early next year, you can see Sarah McLachlan at a number of media appearances and concerts promoting her newest album, "Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan."
"Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan" was released on October 8, just one month after McLachlan announced the end of her 11 year marriage to Ashwin Sood, her long-time drummer. The album has two new songs: "U Want Me 2," which is described as a mid-tempo love song and "Dont Give Up On Us," which is described as a more lighthearted, bouncy love song.
Sarah McLachlan started singing as a child in Nova Scotia, where she was adopted. While in high school she was the frontrunner in a band called The October Game, and was recognized while performing the first concert at Dalhousie University.
Two years later, she finished her studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and signed with Nettwork, a Vancouver-based independent record label. After her move to Vancouver, B.C., she recorded her first album, "Touch," in 1988. She was also a contributor to the electrical music group, Moev.
Three years later came her second album, "Solace," and breakthrough in Canada. It was during this time that she met Pierre Marchand, who is still McLachlans producer. In addition, Marchand occasionally co-writes songs with McLachlan.
Currently, McLachlan is gearing up for media appearances in New York, Oregon and Canada. Additionally, she will be appearing on television and in "More" magazine (Canadian version) before the end of the year.
