Rob Thomas recently released his second solo album, "Cradle Song." It was preceded by two singles, "Give Me The Meltdown" and "Someday." In honor of his latest release, Thomas is going on tour across the U.S. without Matchbox 20.
Rob Thomas, born in 1972 in a military base in West Germany, is the primary singer and songwriter in Matchbox 20, and his former band Tabitha's Secret.
In 2004, Thomas was awarded a Starlight Award by the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The award recognizes young songwriters who have already had a lasting influence in the music industry. He has also won three Grammy awards for co-writing and singing on the Carlos Santana triple-platinum hit "Smooth" on the album Supernatural in 1999.
Besides Santana, Thomas has also worked with Willie Nelson, Mick Jagger, Marc Anthony, Pat Green, Taylor Hicks, Travis Tritt and Chris Daughtry.
Thomas began his solo career after nearly 10 years with Matchbox 20 in 2005. Since then, he released his first album …Something to Be, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
The first single off this album, "Lonely No More," reached number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The second single, "This Is How a Heart Breaks," wasn't as successful, though the third single, "Ever The Same," was a hit.
