Ray Lamontagne News and Information
Posted 6/18/2009
Ray Lamontagne is touring this October and November, primarily down the East Coast, eventually finishing up with four West Coast stops - including a two-night stint at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. He is traveling behind a 2008 release.
Legend has it that the singer-songwriter quit his job at a shoe factory to pursue a career in music after hearing a Stephen Stills song. It seemed to be a great decision - he has released three albums since his debut in 2004, and his raspy voice and thoughtful lyrics have built him a solid following of fans, particularly as a live performer.
In 2004, Lamontagne released "Trouble," which included Nickel Creek violinist Sara Watkins. The album sold over 400,000 copies worldwide. He traveled on a massive promotion tour, including the Austin City Limits and the Bonnaroo music festivals.
"Till the Sun Turns Black" was released in August of 2006, and found even more success, commercially and critically. In addition, his music was featured in the film "27 Dresses," and the television shows "One Tree Hill" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." LaMontagne released "Gossip in the Rain" in 2008, and it debuted on the Billboard Charts at No.3, his highest debut.
