Pearl Jam has extended their North American tour in support of their Sept. 2009 album "Backspacer." Though they began touring before the album was released last year, they are back this spring with performances from May 1-21 in the U.S., including the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Pearl Jam will be jamming in Europe from June 22 to July 10.

Last fall, the group began touring in support of their ninth studio album, making stops at the Austin City Limits Music Festival and at the Philadelphia Spectrum. Before the album arrived, they were gaining media attention by playing "Got Some," one of the singles from the album, on the first episode of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. They also played the Virgin Festival and the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in August.

"Backspacer" is the band's first work in three years following the release of their 2006 self-titled album.
