Paul Oakenfold, also known as the world's best DJ, is touring throughout the U.S. and Canada this fall in support of his upcoming album, Pop Killer.
The last scheduled tour date is Nov. 27 at Kool Haus in Toronto, and his last U.S. tour date is Nov. 24 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. Additional stops include Nov. 5 at the Ogden Theatre in Denver; Nov. 19 at the Chicago House of Blues; and Nov. 20 at the Fillmore Detroit.
Oakenfold's most recent album was 2009's DJ Mix Perfecto: Vegas. Pop Killer is due out later this year or in early 2011.
Though Oakenfold had always dreamed of being a chef, he secretly desired to be a DJ. Once he was 21, he and another friend moved to New York City and began integrating themselves into the music scene.
Ironically, it wasn't until a trip to the Island of Ibiza (off the coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea) for his 24th birthday that Oakenfold fell in love with the trance sound that he would later incorporate into his own music.
In 1990 four years after the Ibiza visit Oakenfold helped produce two remixes for The Happy Mondays, a rock band. From there, Oakenfold gained popularity and success as a DJ.
Throughout his 15+ year career, he has released two studio albums (with another Pop Killer on the way), 21 DJ Mixes and two DVDs. His career has also branched slightly into film, as he has appeared on shows like The Club and Dancestar USA 2003, as well as the film The Rules of Attraction.
