Nine Inch Nails hammered its way through the first leg of its North American tour, Nine Inch Nails: Lights in the Sky, which wrapped up in Inglewood, Calif. on Sept. 6.
Next, the tour heads down to South America for six concerts across Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Columbia, and Venezuela before making its way back to North America on Oct. 18.
NIN consists of only one official member, Trent Reznor. As the bands only singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Reznor gathers together a live band to perform with him, and is infamous for smashing musical instruments at the end of their shows.

Nine Inch Nails Background Information
Trent Reznor is the main singer, instrumentalist and producer for the group, and has been guiding its sound since 1988. Reznor took leaps for industrial rock, and turned it into something that the main stream could appreciate with use of electronic instruments and processing.
Reznor worked as an assistant engineer and janitor at a recording studio, and began recording songs. When he realized the he was unable to find a band, he took a cue from Prince and started performing all of his own instruments.
Reznor released his debut album "Pretty Hate Machine" in 1989. Singles from the album included "Head Like a Hole" and "Sin." His sound was described by a critic as "harrowing by catchy music," and hes lived by that description. The album was the first independently released record to be certified platinum.
"The Downward Spiral" was NINs next effort, which really put Reznor on the map. The album included the hits "March of the Pigs" and "Closer," along with "Hurt" and "Piggy." The album was critically acclaimed, claiming the 25th spot on Spin Magazines "100 Greatest Albums, 1985-2005" and No.200 on Rolling Stones "500 greatest albums of all time."
The artist has continued to release a number of successful albums, and in the spring of 2008 released "The Slip," which included his newest single "Discipline." NIN has been added to a list of artists that provide their music online for free - a CD and vinyl format will be available in July.
