Linkin Park Tickets

Linkin Park has popularized an entire genre of music almost single-handedly, regularly landing atop the Billboard charts in the process.

The band was formed in a California high school when Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Ron Bourdon bonded over their love of heavy metal. After the trio graduated, they joined forces with Joe Hahn, Dave Farrell and Mark Wakenfield. By the time the group became Linkin Park, Farrell and Wakenfield departed and Chester Bennington jumped on board as frontman.

The band released "Hybrid Theory" in 2000. The album included a number of massive hits, including "Crawling" and "One Step Closer," and it sold almost five million copies within a year of release.

The group began to gain hype, scoring spots on a number of rock-oriented film soundtracks, including "Dracula 2000," "Valentine" and "Little Nicky." Adding to their popularity was a massive touring schedule. Linkin Park traveled on the Ozzfest and Family Values Tours, in addition to the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas outing and their Project Revolution tour. They traveled to 320 venues by the end of 2001. While they had little time for recording during that time, they did put out a remix album, "Reanimation," in 2002.

In 2003, the group released "Meteora." The album unloaded 800,000 copies in its first week, which is quite a feat. Hit singles from the album include "Numb," "Somewhere I Belong," "Breaking the Habit," and "Faint." With this album, they were really beginning to solidify the nu metal genre of music, combining metal with rock and alternative and pleasing the masses greatly.

The band notably worked on "Collision Course," collaboration with rap great Jay-Z. The album combines the heavy rock sounds with the raps of Jay, creating a new sound out of a new genre.
