Ledisi is gearing up for the last leg of her 2008 tour. Shes got a handful of stops to make before Christmas, her proclaimed "favorite time of the year."
Ledisi (pronounced 'led-duh-see) literally means 'to bring forth in Yoruba, the language native to Nigeria. This two-time Grammy Nominee will have you on your feet cheering after youve heard her eloquent mixture of jazz and R&B.
She started performing as young as age eight with the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra. After performing in "The Wiz" in 1990, Ledisi won a Shellie. That in addition to the five years she studied opera and piano at the University of California-Berkley, prepared her to release two independent albums: "Soulsinger" and "Feeling Orange but Sometimes Blue."
In 2007, Ledisi signed with Verve, and released her third album, "Lost & Found." The single "Alright" from "Lost & Found" peaked at No. 65 on the Billboard Hot R&B chart.
In addition to her albums, she has appeared in over 25 songs with other artists, such as Sergio Mendez and Third Eye Blind. Currently, Ledisi is touring, and could be coming to an area near you soon!
